Our Engagement!

I have been waiting for and imagining how this day would be since I was a little girl, and it couldn't have been more perfect. We have been dating since I was 16 and he was 17, we had a few off years in between, but have been back together for a little over a year. Anyway, on to the good stuff. I just knew back in June when we were in Australia that he was going to propose, but he didn't. Then, I just knew he was going to propose at Christmas, but still he didn't! But finally on 2-12-10, Valentine's weekend, he popped the question!!! Here is how it happened:

Tuesday night he called me and told me that he was planning our Valentine weekend and that would be his gift to me and that I was not allowed to ask any questions about the plans. He told me I needed to be in Lynchburg no later than 6pm and be wearing a black dress, but that I also needed to bring my tennis shoes and a jacket and of course a really great Valentine present for him. So, when I finished working on Friday I drove to Lynchburg for this surprise weekend! As soon as I got there he immediately wanted to open his gift from me. I got him a new rain jacket and WeatherTech floormats for his Tahoe (I know really romantic right... but it is what he had been wanting) hahaha! Then he was reading his Valentine card and his hands were shaking, and I asked him "what is wrong with you"! He was starting to act really nervous! That's when he told me he had bought me a present too and that it was kind of "cheesy" and not much, but to close my eyes and he would be right back. When I opened them he was down on one knee and said "I want to spend the rest of my life with you, will you marry me?" So at this point, the moment I have been waiting on forever you would think I would cry and say all the cliche things girls are expected to, but no! I was in such shock that it was really happening, the moment I had been waiting on forever, that I was speechless. Of course I said YES right away and kissed him, but still not one tear. He told me he had reservations to stay at the Craddock Terry hotel in Lynchburg for the night and dinner reservations at Shoemaker's! He placed the ring on my finger and then he started crying, that's when he told me about the ring....

The Ring...
Randal had been having the ring made for me since the beginning of December. The diamond is a 1 carat solitare and was his grandmother's. She had wanted him to give it to me. When he told me this, that is when I started crying. Those of you who know our story know why this is so special to me! The whole moment and the ring was absolutely perfect and more than I could have ever imagined!

My thoughts...
I am marrying my first love and my very best friend. This doesn't happen very often in life, so I consider myself very lucky to have found such an amazing guy as Randal. We have been through a lot together, and I can't imagine going through life with anybody else excpet for him. I've known for a long time that he was "the one" and I can't wait to become Mrs. White.
